Introduction
About me
My name is Genna (Gerda) Bijker Kappelhof. I am a psychologist, psychosocial therapist and registered career coach. From my practice in Vinkeveen, I provide personal, goal-oriented support for psychological difficulties, distressing experiences and questions relating to work, relationships and personal development.
You can come to me for support with stress, burnout, anxiety, panic attacks, trauma, PTSD, insecurity, low self-esteem, grief and loss, relationship difficulties and work-related issues. You are also welcome if you are not quite sure what is going on, but feel that something is not right or find yourself repeatedly facing the same patterns. Together, we explore what you need.
How I work
I use an integrative approach. This means that I do not rely on one fixed method, but consider you as a whole: your thoughts, emotions, behaviour, physical responses, personal experiences and circumstances.
Together, we explore what is happening, what may be maintaining your symptoms and what can help you move forward. Depending on your needs, I use methods including EMDR, cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), solution-focused therapy, mindfulness and hypnotherapy.
My approach is personal, practical and goal-oriented. A typical course of therapy consists of five to ten sessions.
My style and experience
My style is open, calm, engaged and down-to-earth, with room for humour and perspective. I provide a safe and non-judgemental environment in which you can talk openly about what is going on. I am perceptive and curious, while also being direct and practical.
Alongside my psychological and therapeutic background, I have over 25 years of experience in the corporate world, including as an organisational psychologist and career coach. This means that I can also support you with work-related difficulties, career questions, returning to work after illness and sustainable employability.
I am affiliated with three Dutch professional organisations: Noloc, the Netherlands Federation for Healthcare (NFG) and the Netherlands Association for Psychotherapy (NAP).

I’m incredibly grateful to have been referred to Gerda. She offers a variety of treatments and gives me the freedom to choose what fits me best, which I find very convenient and empowering.
As an expat and a mom living in the Netherlands, navigating cultural differences can be challenging, but Gerda truly understands and respects my background. She consistently validates my feelings while also gently challenging them, helping me see new perspectives that have been invaluable in my healing journey.
I feel supported, understood, and encouraged every step of the way. I’m very happy to have Gerda as my psychologist.
